LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Mark Huizenga, R-Walker, welcomed Kate Terpstra to the Michigan Capitol on Wednesday night as his guest for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2025 State of the State address.

Terpstra is the economic development administrator for the city of Coopersville, with additional responsibilities for recreation and marketing.

She has been working with Huizenga on various projects for the city, including the proposed North Bank Trails. The proposed 18-mile trail will run from Spring Lake to Coopersville along the former Grand Trunk Railroad right-of-way. It will connect the Musketawa Trail to the Spring Lake bike path and help connect the Grand Rapids metro area to the beaches of Lake Michigan.
